- Tell us about the Blues
- The St. Louis Blues have been around since 1967
- Named after a song called Saint Lois Blues, so at the pregame shows, they try to reinforce the idea of rhythm and blues that’s embedded in the city of Saint Louis.
- Blues for Kids was started for a player, number 14 Doug Wickenheiser, who was facing a cancer diagnosis. So the organization was created as a way to fund his treatment and support his family.
- After he passed away, the fund continued to provide cancer care and awareness initiatives in the Saint Louis area.
- Blues for Kids grew out of that, adding pillars to the cancer care awareness pillar.
- How has education become a big part of the Blues for Kids mission?
- The Blues already had some existing education initiatives like Grown, Future Goals, STEM programs, Blues Bookworm program, etc.

- They try to help the kids play in a hockey association after the program is complete so they can continue the sport.
- There was an additional partnership with the Blues Museum that taught the kids how to play bucket drums and even build guitars from scratch.
