Take Advantage of Tax Free Weekend and Local Drives to Prepare Your Child for Back to School
July 15, 2021

Believe it or not, it’s already time to start thinking about back-to-school shopping.
Luckily, there will be deals. Missouri’s Back to School Sales Tax Holiday will take place August 6-8 this year, giving families an opportunity to make their back-to-school purchases tax-free. The holiday gives shoppers a tax break on items like school supplies, computers, computer accessories, clothing and other school-related items.
The school supplies your students will need varies based on their grade level and school. We recommend reaching out to your child’s school for supply lists for next year. Additionally, some schools share their lists publicly on TeacherLists. You can also use St. Louis Public Schools’ supply recommendations to get a general idea of what’s needed.
If you could use help getting the supplies your students need this year, check out 24:1’s Beyond the Backpack drive:
- When: 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. on August 14
- Where: Beyond Housing, 6506 Wright Way, Pine Lawn, MO 63121
Also check out United Way 211 for additional support. Dial 211 and enter your zip code for help with finding school supplies resources near you or visit their website and search online at mo211.myresourcedirectory.com.
