The Current State Of Schools
February 22, 2020
Depending on what type of schools you are researching, you’ve probably noticed how different the application process is for each school or district. Today we are going to discuss the current state of schools.
In an effort to keep families up to date on the current state of St. Louis city schools, we have pulled together recent information and resources to let you know which schools are full and when and how you need to apply to the ones still accepting applications.
Some SLPS Schools No Longer Accepting Applications
Currently, Metro Academic and Classical High School, Collegiate School of Medicine and Bioscience High School, McKinley Classical Leadership Academy High School, Kennard CJA Elementary School, and Mallinckrodt Academy of Gifted Instruction Elementary School are no longer accepting students for the 2020-2021 school year.
That said, there are still a lot of great schools that are still accepting electronic applications through May 21st. After that, you have to apply directly to the school if spots are still available.
Magnet Schools – Post Lottery
The 2020-21 School Year Pool A and Pool B Lottery application period deadlines have passed. Applications received between January 4, 2020, and May 21, 2020, will be processed on a first come first served basis while spots remain.
May 21 is also the last day for applications through the slpsmagnetschools.org online system. After this, families must use a paper application for any magnet school applications.
After May 21, 2020, if you submit a paper application to a school that does not have an opening for your desired grade level, your application will not be processed. This is important to note because you will not be notified that your application will not be processed.
We hope that this update on the current state of schools is helpful.
